We live in a world where religious strife and the potential for religious conflict is increasingly common. This potential exists in Aurora, a city where one in every five residents is an immigrant, 130+ languages are spoken, and every major world religion is represented. While Aurora has sought to embrace its diversity, the reality is that most of us tend to live, work, and go to school in isolated cultural bubbles, rarely having meaningful interactions with our neighbors of different faiths and cultures.
We have the opportunity to continue to support this work by sending three additional student leaders to this year’s Interfaith Leadership Institute in Chicago, August 3-5, 2018.
In order to make this happen, we need to raise $2,300 (in addition to the $3300 we have already received from other donors) to cover the cost of travel, lodging, and conference registration fees.
Given that each of these students is a long-term resident of Aurora, we see this as not just an investment in CCA’s student leadership but, more importantly, an investment in the future of our community.
