In our first newsletter, I want to share a little of my story and discuss the CCA Foundation promise. Throughout this year, I will work with board members and college leadership to implement several strategies aimed at making college more accessible and affordable and at increasing the number of scholarship recipients that complete their degree within three years. Our promise to our donors and community partners is to not just invest in college access, but to invest in college success for every student.

**Student Spotlight: Jesus Calderon**jesuscalderon

 

 

As one of the first Aurora Gives Scholars, Jesús earned a 3.21 GPA, participated with the college’s Model UN team, attended the Hispanics in Higher Education Conference, and was elected Secretary of the college’s Student Government Association.

CentreTech Celebration

On August 11, 2016, CCA employees and individuals instrumental to the founding of the college came together to celebrate the transfer of ownership of the CentreTech campus to the Community College of Aurora. Let’s Make Change Happen

Welcome to the new Community College of Aurora Foundation Newsletter!  The Board and Staff of the Foundation are excited to present a new look to go along with the many changes the Foundation has experienced. This year, the board’s focus is on fundraising for scholarships.  The Foundation has transferred control of all land and buildings to the college now that the bonds used to purchase them have been fulfilled. I joined the Board because I want to see the students at CCA get the kind of quality education that allows them to achieve their dreams – no matter what their dreams may be.

Passing the Torch

img_5330Amy McLaughry, former CCA Foundation Board President speaks about her last 24 months serving as the President of the Foundation Board. Currently acting as the Board Treasurer, she is still very much driven to the Foundation’s mission. She says, “Hearing the stories of our scholarship recipients like Jesus Calderon and knowing the differences we are making in their lives because of your generosity is what keeps me coming back year after year.”
